With over 1000 species of birds and 338 recorded mammals, Uganda is a naturalist’s mecca. For birders, few African destinations can compete with Uganda – the species list exceeds 1,000, at the top of which is surely the exceedingly rare, monstrous, swamp-dependent Shoebill. Uganda is also home, along with Rwanda, to half the world’s remaining critically endangered mountain gorillas which are carefully protected in Uganda’s dense forests found in Bwindi National Park and Mgahinga National Park in south-west Uganda.

Few, if any wildlife experiences, are as impressive as sitting peacefully alongside a habituated group of Mountain gorilla. Experience the White Nile from a new perspective and try your hand at white water rafting
