We support microbusinesses such as a local lady, Mama Sipo in Mto Wa Mbu in Tanzania where we have helped her to create a little lunch restaurant in her back garden serving her delicious local dishes to the tourists we bring. It is small, sensitively done and goes right back into the community. That is how we like to operate avoiding big corporate NGOs and institutions.

Conservation is key to what we believe in at Journey’s Intent. Having trained anti-poaching National Parks rangers for many years, the Journey’s Intent vision is to provide income and investment back into the areas where it is proven to work and where it matters. For example in Africa we directly support rhino conservation inside the Serengeti National Park where we have assisted in the set up and development of walking safaris inside rhino zones. Our sister company, Wayo Africa located in the Serengeti , is conducting the only walking safaris inside these zones. With a constant presence of small and responsible groups of guests, guides and rangers on foot this activity aids in locating illegal foot traffic inside these fragile zones and assists the park to push out potential poachers. As part of this project we also work with Frankfurt Zoological Society and the Rhino rangers themselves who demonstrated that by consistent and considered work, results can be achieved. They have increased black rhino populations in the Serengeti from fewer than 2,300 in 1993 to 4,200 individuals today. With our partner Wayo Africa, we organise an annual charity walk for Rhino Conservation. Walk for Rhinos (link to itinerary) this is a great opportunity for guests have a life changing experience whilst also raising funds that will directly be donated to the Frankfurt Zoological Society Rhino Project.
No middle man, you are ensured your donations are going directly to the project you intended.
